Physician Reviewers

MPRO recruits consultants to perform medical review on individual cases utilizing clinical judgement, evidence-based medicine, and knowledge of the accepted community standard of care. Consultants make final determinations regarding the medical necessity of admissions, the validity of diagnostic and procedural information, and quality of care issues. MPRO seeks consultants who are willing to make fair and consistent decisions based on objective review of the documentation in the medical record or provided via the telephone for concurrent review. Consultants perform review at MPRO offices, or arrangements can be made for review within the consultants’ offices.

Requirements for Medical Review

Consultants must have active Michigan medical licenses and actively provide care to patients at least 20 hours per week. In addition, they must have staff privileges at a Michigan hospital. Consultants must also be board-certified. Potential consultants are interviewed by MPRO’s Medical Director. Interested consultants should submit a brief curriculum vitae, documentation of board-certification or eligibility, and a photocopy of their medical license.
