Background of Part D Benefit
The Part D prescription drug benefit of the Medicare Modernization Act (which was signed in December 2003) will be implemented January 2006.
As the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Michigan, MPRO will be offering support to prescription drug plans (PDPs) and Medicare Advantage plans (MA-PDs) to improve the quality and safety of prescription drug delivery, including the development and implementation of Medication Therapy Management Services (MTMS). MPRO will offer quality improvement expertise and support to Michigan's PDPs and MA-PDs in these areas. We strongly believe that quality improvement principles and methodologies can assist these organizations to better serve people with Medicare and all health care consumers.
