Since 1984, MPRO has  been helping consumers better understand their rights and privileges under the Medicare program.  We want to help your receive quality health care.  There is no charge for our services.

Discharge Appeals from Other Health Care Facilities

  • Skilled Nursing Facilities
  • Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities
  • Home Health Agencies
  • Hospices

Skilled nursing facilities, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities, home health agencies, and hospices are required to provide you with a notice called “NOTICE OF MEDICARE PROVIDER NON-COVERAGE,” at least two days before you are discharged. You can appeal a decision if you feel you are not ready to be discharged, or if you have a legitimate medical reason to continue receiving a medical service. You can also appeal these types of discharges by contacting MPRO AT 1-800-365-5899.

 

Who can request an appeal?

Any Medicare beneficiary or his/her designated representative (such as a spouse or caregiver) can request an appeal.

 

What does it cost to appeal?

There is no charge to the Medicare patient for filing an appeal.
