Introduction

MPRO continues to formally honor extraordinary nursing homes that are active in quality improvement for long-term care. Exceptional health care providers have the opportunity to be recognized with the 2007 Michigan Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Nursing Home Setting.

The criteria for the Michigan Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Nursing Home Setting are based on MPRO's Nursing Home Quality Improvement Initiative. The 8th Scope of Work (8SOW) quality measures in the award have been designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Nursing homes may receive the award in one or more areas:

  • Reducing Pressure Ulcers
  • Identifying and Reducing Pain
  • Reducing Physical Restraints
  • Identifying and Managing Depression

New this year: 2007 MPRO’s Distinguished Award of Excellence

We would like to recognize the very top performing nursing homes in the areas related to the 2007 Michigan Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Nursing Home Setting.  Nursing homes which meet the criteria for the 2007 MPRO’s Distinguished Award of Excellence will receive special recognition for their accomplishments.

Recognition

Award recipients will be recognized at the Michigan Award of Excellence ceremony. To promote the recipients' exceptional accomplishments, MPRO will provide turn-key press kits to coordinate and enhance the recipients' media exposure. Nursing Homes may choose to send articles promoting awards to major newspapers, health-related newsletters and magazines. Award recipients may elect to be highlighted in MPRO's publications and Web site.
