Robert J. Yellan Named President/CEO of MPRO

(Farmington Hills, MI, April 24, 2008) - Robert J. Yellan, of Troy, has been appointed president and chief executive officer of MPRO, Michigan’s Quality Improvement Organization (QIO). In this role, Yellan will provide executive oversight of the health care organization and all of its divisions including: MPRO’s QIO activities, medical review services, and other health care quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
“Bob brings more than 30 years of health care leadership with demonstrated success in health care administration and cost management,” said Charles Inniss, MD, board chairman, MPRO. Dr. Inniss added, “Bob’s skills and experience are well matched to the mission and needs of MPRO.”
Prior to joining MPRO, Yellan served as president of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and senior vice president of the DMC. In this capacity, he led efforts to enhance patient satisfaction, quality improvement, operations, and revenue as well as oversee numerous expansion projects to enhance services. Prior to leading Huron Valley-Sinai, Yellan oversaw the DMC’s legal, government affairs, and managed care functions. In addition to his other leadership roles with the DMC, he also served as chief of health planning for the Michigan Department of Management and Budget, Office of Health and Medical Affairs.

It is MPRO’s goal to serve as the independent expert in helping providers and consumers to create better health outcomes through continuous quality improvement.”
In addition to his numerous prior leadership affiliations, Yellan currently is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American College of Healthcare Executives, and a member of the American Public Health Association. Yellan holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan, as well as a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
