MPRO Appoints Six to Board of Directors
Farmington Hills, MI (December 5, 2008) – MPRO, Michigan’s Quality Improvement Organization, has appointed the following new members to its Board of Directors: Linda Dean Hamacher; Jewel Hamner, MD; Robert Hull; Margaret Marchak; John Tower, DO; and Congressman John “Joe” Schwarz, MD.
Linda Dean Hamacher, of Flushing, Michigan, serves as Executive Director for Genesee Health Plan Corporation and Senior Consultant to Health Management Associates in Lansing, Michigan. Hamacher is a recognized authority in the areas of health benefit delivery and managed care and brings to the MPRO Board of Directors strong experience in Medicare and Medicaid managed care programs.
Jewel Hamner, MD, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Comprehensive Health. She brings to the MPRO Board solid experience in Internal Medicine, Women’s Health, Preventive Cardiology, Preventive Medicine and Alternative Medicine. She obtained her bachelor’s from the University of Detroit and her doctor of medicine degree from Wayne State School of Medicine. In addition, she holds an MBA from Madonna University.
Robert Hull of Farmington Hills, Michigan, serves as a beneficiary member to the Board. Retired from Denso International America, Inc. in Southfield, Michigan, Mr. Hull also serves on the Michigan Senior Advisory and Advocate Council(s) for Area Agency on Aging 1B and advocates on behalf of the American Association of Retired Persons for Michigan’s 9th District. In addition, he also serves on the Long-Term Care Insurance Partnership Project in Michigan. Mr. Hull received his Bachelors Degree in Commerce from Notre Dame University and studied law at Georgetown University.
Former U.S. Congressman John “Joe” Schwarz, MD, currently resides and practices medicine in Battle Creek, Michigan. In addition to serving in the U.S. House of Representatives has also served in the state Senate and served as Mayor of Battle Creek. Since leaving Congress, he has served on numerous health advisory panels on both state and federal levels. In addition, Dr. Schwarz currently serves on several Advisory Committees at the University of Michigan and is a lecturer in the Ford School of Public Policy at U of M. He received his undergraduate degree from U of M and is a graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine.
Margaret Marchak, of Troy, Michigan, is in private practice with Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, PLLC in Troy, Michigan. The firm is one of the largest health care law firms nationally. Ms. Marchak has extensive experience in representing health care providers with a particular interest in health information technology. She received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School.
John Tower, DO, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, is in private practice in Rochester Hills. He is Chief of the Division of Rheumatology at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. Dr. Tower is Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine as well as Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine/Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. He received his bachelor’s, graduate and medical degrees from Michigan State University.
