Informal Dispute Resolution (IDR)

“MPRO has gained broad recognition throughout Michigan as an objective and trusted independent reviewer of IDR requests. MPRO has developed a program that is strongly supported by the Michigan nursing home profession. We believe that Michigan , through use of an independent reviewer of IDR requests, has fostered an atmosphere that is less-adversarial between state surveyors and nursing homes.”

MPRO's Unique Approach– Building on Success

MPRO’s approach to IDR is characterized by a rigorous decision making process, expertly trained reviewers, quality reviews, continuous training, and timeliness. Each of these key components contributes to the quality of the review decision outcome. MPRO’s program is unique in that it incorporates a quality review mechanism to IDR that allows decisions to be continuously monitored. MPRO currently works with the states of Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan.

MPRO's medical review programs have received full accreditation from URAC as a Health Utilization Management (HUM) and Independent Review Organization (IRO). URAC was founded in 1990 to establish standards for the health care industry. MPRO has gained broad recognition as the only accredited Independent Review Organization (IRO) offering independent review of IDR appeals.

If you have any questions about our unique approach to IDR or our URAC accreditation, please contact Kathy Matuszak, RN, BSN, LNHA, IDR Project Manager.
