Robert J. Yellan
President and Chief Executive Officer
Robert Yellan has built a legacy of dynamic leadership and service excellence. With a career that spans more than three decades, Bob has devoted a majority of his professional career to improving the quality, delivery, and efficiency of health care. Since becoming President and CEO of MPRO in May 2008, Bob has focused his leadership on the transformation of health care. Under his direction, the MPRO team assists providers across health care settings to improve clinical outcomes and develop better care processes.
Describing MPRO as the “Unequivocal leader in health care quality improvement initiatives in Michigan,” Bob leads by example. He is a firm believer in combining expertise and compassion to promote quality. His leadership is rooted in the core of MPRO’s mission “To improve the quality of health care for all communities.”
Prior to joining MPRO, Bob served as President and CEO of the DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital. While at Huron Valley-Sinai, Bob worked to build a strong foundation of excellence which evoked community-based loyalty. In addition, during his many years with the DMC, he held other positions including overseeing DMC’s legal, government affairs, and managed care functions. Earlier in his career, he served as chief of health planning for the Michigan Department of Management and Budget, Office of Health and Medical Affairs.
Mr. Yellan is affiliated with numerous organizations and sits on various committees and boards. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American College of Healthcare Executives, and a member of the American Public Health Association.
He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s of Public Health degree from U of M as well. In addition, he holds a law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Mr. Yellan is also a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He and his wife have four grown children and eight grandchildren.
