Biography

Paul Shaheen, BA, MAT, is the former Executive Director of the Michigan Council for Maternal and Child Health (MCMCH). Now retired, his career has included a variety of leadership roles. He served five years as the Coordinator of Legislative Affairs with the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA).

Prior to the MHA, he was the Director of Policy Development and Evaluation with the Michigan Department of Community Health, charged with developing the Michigan Medicaid medical evaluation system. An active community advocate, he also worked as Senior Social Worker for Flint Public Housing, developed three Head Start centers, worked with Model Cities and the Office of Economic Opportunity, taught at various colleges, and served as a Peace Corps volunteer. Mr. Shaheen is a Member of the Michigan State University School of Nursing, Board of Advisors. He is also a member of the Children Trust Fund Board of Directors.

Mr. Shaheen holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Education from Wayne State University.
