Caroline Blaum, MD, MS

Biography
Caroline Blaum, MD, MS, serves as Associate Chief of Geriatric Medicine and Research Professor of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at the University of Michigan, Institute of Gerontology. In this role, she has extensively researched Medicare costs and has experience in transitional care and services for frail and vulnerable senior citizens.
A specialist in Geriatrics, Dr. Blaum has multiple publications and brings valued experience to the MPRO Board. Her research interests are primarily in two areas: (1) disability transitions and the disease/disability relationship, and (2) under nutrition in nursing home residents. Her work has begun to link disability transitions to the natural history of chronic diseases and to evaluate the impact of these transitions on health services utilization.
She is Board certified in both Geriatrics and Internal Medicine. Dr. Blaum received her Medical Degree from the University of Michigan.
