What to Do when You've Been Asked to Leave Too SoonMedicare pays the hospital based on your medical problem; not by the number of days you stay in the hospital. How long you should stay in the hospital depends solely on your medical needs. Remember that medical necessity is based on whether the care you need can be provided only in a hospital, not on your desire to stay in the hospital. If you are ever told that you must leave the hospital before you feel well enough, you have the right to appeal that decision by asking MPRO to perform a free review of your case. There are several easy steps to the appeal process. |
