Hospital Data Reporting Overview
Support for Hospital Data Reporting
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has chosen/selected specific indicators to measure the quality of care provided to our Nation’s Medicare beneficiaries. The measures focus on specific diagnoses most frequently seen among the Medicare population. These quality measures include Pneumonia (PN), Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), Heart Failure (HF) and specific surgeries Surgical Care Improvement Program (SCIP). There are also indicators for Mortality, Readmissions and Hospital Patient Satisfaction Surveys.
Hospitals reimbursed by Medicare under the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) must meet data reporting requirements in order to receive the full annual payment update. Other hospitals, such as critical access hospitals, are encouraged to participate in the data collection and reporting activities also.
As Michigan’s federally designated Quality Improvement Organization (QIO), MPRO assists hospitals in accurately abstracting data related to these quality measures, and to submit complete and timely data according to CMS deadlines. MPRO provides assistance with QualityNet also.
To facilitate communication about your hospital’s data submission or validation, please help us maintain an accurate contact database by notifying us of any changes regarding your hospital CEO, Liaison, or Hospital Quality Improvement Program (HCQIP) contact.
